Notre Bob Dylan national!

*The first songs of the greatest french poet.
Whether tender as "le petit cheval" or
"la chasse aux papillons"; more trivial like
"le gorille" or "hécatombe" or when brassens sings

it’s always a pleasure to hear playing with
words as he alone knows how to do.
Our national Bob Dylan!

JOHN MAYALL - Back To The Roots 1971 (Rip 2Cds) @320

Lets get everybody back together and record some new stuff. That idea rarely works but this time it does. Good tunes played by some great musicians usually wins and this is no exception.
One of John Mayall's better recordings and maybe my favorite album from Mr. Mayall. I can listen to this long play and long plays like this all day long. rod45 (RYM)

TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS ~ Live at the Fillmore 1997 (Rip Cd3 & Cd4) @320

I like this concert because they play covers of many famous rock songs on top of their own material. Great blend and quite nostalgic (Kinks, Stones, The Byrds, The Doors and others from 60es). Roger McGuinn, John Lee Hooker joins Petty on stage for a while !

JAMES McMURTRY ~ Too Long In The Wasteland  (1989)

One thing for sure about Texas...they produce songwriters a hell of a lot better than they do presidents. James McMurtry is just another case in point. His voice has that same dry drawl as other Lone Star greats like Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and Jerry Jeff Walker. And when you hear the lyrics, you'll know for yourself that this talented man deserves to be mentioned in the same catagory as any of 'em. I think it's safe to say that he wouldn't have developed his talent without inspiration from his famous dad Larry McMurtry, but what I like is that songs like "Terry", "Outskirts", "Poor Lost Soul", and the excellent "Too Long In The Wasteland" are far more like Larry's "Last Picture Show" view of Texas, than "Lonesome Dove". These are songs about real, relatable , people who work hard, drink hard, and most of all lose hard. It's a fantastic debut from a really fine artist. You should check it out!

TOM PETTY ~ Wildflowers & All the Rest ''Box Set, Deluxe Edition'' 2020 (Rip 2Cds)

I love the sound of this album, the production fits the songs perfectly. I can't find one single weak track here, so this must be Tom Petty's best work ever. A perfectly balanced mix of rockers, mid-tempo tunes and slow soft ballads. jabbe (RYM)
