VA ~ Live At Bill Graham's Fillmore West 1969 (2009)

Everybody talks about "Super Session" as the one to go
for if you want to listen Mike`s guitar playing at his best,
for me, this is the real deal. A mix of Superb Blues, R&B and
even a slice of Rock. Side men like Taj Mahal, Mark Naftalin,
Snooky Flowers and Nick Gravenites among others, give Mike the
perfect entourage, you keep listening to this one and wishing
that it don`t stop ever.

DAVID CROSBY ~ Croz 2014 (Rip Cd)

Crosby is back with an album of new material for the first time since 1993. The thing to keep in mind is that Croz is 72 years old. Before you freak out, just know that he still sounds as good as ever here. The songs are all well written and played and although he gets help from a slew of other musicians (as usual), Crosby is the star here. He takes center stage on every track and produces a much better album than I thought he was capable of at this stage of his career/life. I sometimes miss the sublime harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash/Young here but I think Croz does a very good job of carrying the album with his lone voice. Not to mention, there are a handful of times where the harmonies come into play and one is reminded of the good ol' days. Still, this is a nostalgic trip and one that kind of sounds like waking up early Saturday morning in the spring. Just good feelings all around.

JOHN MAYALL ~ Back To The Roots 1971 (Rip 2Cds)

Lets get everybody back together and record some new stuff. That idea rarely works but this time it does. Good tunes played by some great musicians usually wins and this is no exception.
One of John Mayall's better recordings and maybe my favorite album from Mr. Mayall. I can listen to this long play and long plays like this all day long. rod45 (RYM)
